We have the first production system for sustainable agriculture that has the potential to feed people all over the world regardless of conventional energy and water supply – only with renewable energy, water treatment and water generation through condensation technology.<\/p>\n

Vertical Farming has developed a lot in the last years: from a cultivation system, which concentrated mainly on greens and had a very high energy demand, to flexible and more efficient systems, which now allow for the cultivation of vegetables and fruits.<\/p>\n

BeGlobe can design BeGlobeFarms to be working self-sufficiently BeGlobe FlexFarm<\/strong> , or largely self-sufficiently. BeGlobe SmartFarm<\/strong>\u00a0depending on its intended location and they will be put together in individually desired order of magnitude and also taking into account the selected species of plants.<\/p>\n

In addition, the operation of own facilities at different locations is planned. They will offer the possibility of fish farming and the cultivation of different fruits, vegetables, herbs and other plants, which are not only of high quality, but achieve the highest level of profitability.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

How does it grow?<\/em><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>

In BeGlobeFarms, the crops grow on different vertical levels under strictly controlled conditions, like e.g. irrigation, temperature, humidity, nutrients and fertilizer, as well as artificial and individually adjusted lighting that significantly affects factors such as taste, growth and quality.<\/p>\n

During the hours of sunshine, the sunlight is used directly to illuminate the crops inside the farm with the help of an innovative lens system and fiber optic cables. At the same time, the solar energy, which is not used at this point, is stored for the time without the sun, so that hardly any other energy sources need to be used even without sunlight.<\/p>\n

The cultivation methods adapt to the plants and contain hydroponic<\/a>, aquaponic<\/a> or aeroponic<\/a> approaches for which no soil and only little water is needed. In particular, aquaponics, which enables fish farming and plant cultivation in a synergetic relationship, supports the sustainability of cultivation, which is why BeGlobe favors this methodology under certain conditions.<\/p>\n

The advantages, like e.g. a year-round production, shorter growth cycles, no use of pesticides or herbicides and many more outweigh the disadvantages. The biggest disadvantage of Vertical Farming is its high energy demand. BeGlobe tackles this challenge by using most recent solar technologies. They convince with efficiency, flexible application possibilities and low production costs. Those technologies will be supplied by experienced partners.<\/p>\n

Who takes part?<\/em><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>

Besides the BeGlobe Team with its diverse expertise, external partnerships and cooperations ensure the successful development and implementation of the project goals. Our partners from SOLAR BANKERS<\/a> provide their modern and highly efficient technologies regarding solar power and water treatment for BeGlobeFarms. They combine the scientific support of Professor Dr. Stefan Brunnhuber, as well as the technical expertise of Dr. Carlo Maragliano. Further specialist knowledge flows in through cooperation partners in the fields of energy and water production, aquaponics and manufacturers of turnkey vertical farming systems. A close scientific relationship with various universities is foreseen in all related disciplines, with the first relevant working groups already in place.<\/p>\n

In addition to the interest in technological and scientific cooperation, there have also been specific inquiries for the use of BeGlobeFarms. In Nigeria’s most agronomically innovative state, Anambra, they would like to take advantage of vertical farming opportunities and also producers of medicinal plants and herbs from South Africa see in BeGlobeFarms an opportunity to work sustainably and to serve the increasing demand more easily. In this context, the structures for financing projects on the African continent, which were leveled by the World Bank, are also advantageous. BeGlobe was particularly pleased that the overlap with some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has also brought the United Nations’ attention to the project.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
